The historical basis was enlightening. I was familiar with much about Lectio Divina, but the stories about St. Anthony and St. Augustine were not well known to me. The idea of a small moleskin notebook was helpful, as I had been using a larger format which is not working well. Also, bringing on the fifth step (resolution) that St. Francis de Sales speaks about in Introduction to the Devout Life (which I am currently reading) was helpful.
