I'm a Scripture Study Discussion Leader . We are doing this Study by Dr Pitre on The Eucharist six years after the first time. I'm a convert 10 years ago. The Eucharist for me is truly my anchor to the Church. I gave Dr Pitre's book," Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist" to my Pastor. He devoured it in a day. and said there were things in there he had never seen, particularly "The Bread of the Presence" in the temple as a precursor to the Eucharist. My recommendation is to read that 200 page book first. If it intrigues you, do Dr Pitre's whole study here. I do not think you will be disappointed. Here he takes elements from that book from the Old Testament and adds insights from the New Testament, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the Church Fathers. This old former protestant is so grateful for the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. This study really brings it home for me and Dr Pitre is blessed with the gift of communication so even I could understand it. Good Hunting.
