Details
Originally from Scotland, Patrick was kidnapped by pirates and enslaved at only 14. He was taken to Ireland to work as a shepherd. In the fields, Patrick’s faith grew immensely. He prayed in the woods and on the mountains, day and night. After miraculously finding his way home in Scotland, Patrick became a priest, and soon a bishop. God called him to return to Ireland and share the Gospel. There, Patrick performed many miracles and popularly used the shamrock to explain the Trinity.
