First to see that the humanity of the Church is not immune to the humanity of the world, however it is able to quickly course correct to the foundational teachings of Jesus and correct its errors.

Prior to the talk, I knew nothing about Augustine Tolton other than he was a black priest. It definitely benefited me as an African American man who, at one time, thought about the priesthood. Though I feel I now have a calling as a composer of classical music and personal ministry to those who have been abused by racist systems perpetuated by the Church, business institutions and higher education; I feel encouraged that if Tolton can endure what he endured because of the calling of his heart, so can I.
